Dr. Laura was diagnosed in elementary school but was not fit with hearing aids until graduate school. As a patient herself, she knows the burden of growing up with untreated hearing loss and the value of good hearing.
In Her Own Words
I don’t think you have to have hearing loss in order to be a good audiologist, but I would say I am a better audiologist because of it. I have a true empathy and understanding of what my patients are going through because I have been in their shoes.
My hearing loss allows me to connect with my patients on a personal level, in a way that schools cannot teach. I love giving patients with hearing loss hope that they can live a fulfilling and happy life.

Hearing Aid Best Practices
Any hearing aid is only as good as the person who programs it. That is why we follow Audiological Best Practices when it comes to fitting hearing aids. Our job is not to make sure everyone walks out the door with a hearing aid, but that patients walk out the door with the right one, and have success with their devices. Training or re-training the brain to hear and process sound takes time, and our team will be with you every step of the way.
